It’s not very often that tragic circumstances can lead to positive changes. A month after Jacqueline Hirsch was diagnosed with life-threatening leukemia, The Jacquie Hirsch For A.L.L. Foundation was established.

Initially, the goals and efforts of this organization were focused on Jacquie’s care, travel/medical expenses and finding a transplant donor. However in less than a year, the fight that we started as a family came to an abrupt end, and Jacquie was gone. Left devastated and overcome with grief, we rallied back and vowed to do everything possible to help other patients and families. Today, the Foundation has a 4-tiered approach in order to continue the fight against leukemia where Jacquie left off: Awareness | Research | Events | Patient & Family Support

Staying true to our roots of Jacquie’s altruistic and generous personality, the Foundation is extremely successful due to an army of loyal supporters, sponsors and corporate partners. Most notably these efforts have resulted in the Jacquie Hirsch Leukemia Research Project at Roswell Park Cancer Institute where over $425,000 has been invested in promising new cancer research and along with Jacquie’s former oncologist and some of the most of the most brilliant doctors in their field, this initiative is taking aim at Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia’s to determine why this type of cancer is so difficult to treat and cure.

In addition, hundreds of thousands of dollars is raised through annual events put on by the Foundation and by other entities who donate their proceeds to our effective and worthwhile cause. Subsequently, a majority of these funds are used to help patients, families and those afflicted by devastating blood cancers.

I have led several new initiatives for the Foundation to establish our longevity in the community and affirm our on-going commitment to patient support, events, research and awareness. The Center for The Jacquie Hirsch Foundation is one of those!  I have experienced the heartache of losing my sister Jacquie and I live with the pain of her absence each and every day. It is my honor to manage the organization that continues her legacy and I am very dedicated to preserving her memory. We work extremely hard to help other patients and families who are forced into the fight of their lives.
